In this hands-on lab, we will cover the basics of Microsoft Azure and give you     a practical understanding of the core concepts covered in the AZ-900 certification exam. The lab consists of several exercises that will guide you through different aspects of Azure services and functionalities. Let's get started:

Exercise 1: Creating an Azure Account

1. Visit the Azure portal (https://portal.azure.com) and sign in with your Microsoft account or create a new account if you don't have one.

2. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your Azure subscription and provide the required information.

Exercise 2: Exploring Azure Portal

1. Familiarize yourself with the Azure portal interface.

2. Navigate through different sections, such as Dashboard, Virtual Machines, App Services, Storage Accounts, and Networking, to understand the available services.

Exercise 3: Creating a Virtual Machine

1. Create a new virtual machine in Azure using the Azure portal.

2. Configure the virtual machine settings, such as the region, resource group, virtual machine size, and administrator credentials.

3. Connect to the virtual machine using Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) or Secure Shell (SSH) depending on the virtual machine's operating system.

Exercise 4: Deploying a Web App

1. Create a new web app in Azure using the Azure portal.

2. Configure the web app settings, such as the name, resource group, operating system, and runtime stack.

3. Deploy a sample web application to the Azure web app using Git deployment or FTP.

Exercise 5: Working with Azure Storage

1. Create an Azure Storage account.

2. Explore the different types of Azure storage, such as Blob storage, File storage, and Table storage.

3. Create a container in Azure Blob storage and upload a file to it.

Exercise 6: Configuring Virtual Networks

1. Create a virtual network in Azure.

2. Configure subnets, IP address ranges, and network security groups.

3. Create a virtual machine and associate it with the virtual network.

Exercise 7: Monitoring Azure Resources

1. Enable monitoring for Azure resources using Azure Monitor.

2. Set up alerts and notifications for specific metrics or events.

3. View monitoring data and analyze resource performance.

Exercise 8: Scaling Azure Resources

1. Explore scaling options for Azure resources, such as virtual machines and web apps.

2. Configure autoscaling rules to automatically adjust resource capacity based on demand.

Exercise 9: Securing Azure Resources

1. Implement access control and role-based access control (RBAC) for Azure resources.

2. Enable Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) authentication and manage user access.

3. Set up network security groups and configure inbound and outbound traffic rules.

Exercise 10: Managing Costs in Azure

1. Explore cost management and billing features in Azure.

2. Monitor resource usage and cost trends.

3. Set up spending limits and budgets to manage and control costs.

Conclusion:

By completing these hands-on exercises, you have gained practical experience in working with Microsoft Azure and have a better understanding of its core concepts. Remember to explore additional Azure services, features, and functionalities to deepen your knowledge and prepare for the AZ-900 certification exam. Keep practicing and experimenting with Azure to build your expertise in cloud computing. Good luck!
